A Blue Tribute To Back Fat

A Blue Tribute To Back Fat

I hang out with some cool people. People who make me feel comfortable in my own skin.

Last night I was jamming away and i thought I’d do a little spontaneous back-fat love song. Aiden helped out… his little “hold-me-now” grunts work out pretty well methinks, right? [click to continue…]

Fans of Jeff Buckley rejoice, finally a cover that 1) isn’t “Hallelujah” and 2) isn’t by some crappy-but-well-meaning shoeless hippy strummer.

This is a cover by none other than the Cinematic Orchestra, the single most beautiful band of the last decade (your thoughts on that? Sigur Ros insted?), of probably the most haunting Buckley track: Lilac Wine. If you don’t believe me, watch the lower video of the live track.

Check this video out; just beautiful. Directed by Blind, spotted on TheInspirationBlog.

BBM Commercials = Retarded

by Chase on August 31, 2010

Am I the only person who thinks the Blackberry BBM commercials are friggen ridiculous?

Here’s a basic script for one of these things:

[ ♪ banjo twee pop ♫ ]

GUY1: ”Yea, blackberry messenger is siiiiiccckkkK! I can totally send messages to my friends… THROUGH MY PHONE!!!”

GIRL1: “No matter where they are I send these little messages, like, text messages but they are through BBM, right?  Yea, it’s SOO cool.”

GUY2: “I’m pretty fashionable, I mean, I run a fucking art studio, you know?” [click to continue…]

I Am VPS And So Can You!

You’re looking at the all new BeChase.com! It doesn’t look much changed, but in the bowels, in the boiler room and stinky bits, it’s a whole new beast. I moved over to a virtual private server (VPS) at VPS.net. I’m used to managed cloud server stuff (Mediatemple’s GS service & Dreamhost), which is significantly easier, [...]

WTF Marc Maron!? Do It!

August 6, 2010

I’ve been basically “following” Marc Maron for several months now. He’s got a podcast called WTF which is great. He’s “ironically self aware.” He’s basically classically trained in therapy lingo through his experiences in rehab, and he’s been in comedy for a while… and both those things combine to make some great insights. As an [...]

Songs From The Archives: Sad Song

July 14, 2010

Here’s a song I wrote & recorded about 6 years ago. I just called it sad song at the time, because it had a sad sound. This might be one of the songs I’m most proud about. I love the way it sounds, the minimal recording, all the space between the instruments. I hacked so [...]

Audio Special: Born In The USA

Thumbnail image for Audio Special: Born In The USA

A long time ago (in, like, the 90′s or something), my friends and I got together to make a song. The outcome is remarkable. The recording might seem a little flat, but the heart and substance of the performance is staggering. ;) My good buddy @nickhartski on the vocals, and a chorus of screamers including [...]

Three Great Bands You May Not Have Heard Of

June 29, 2010

Just the other day I realized there are a few bands that I absolutely love that almost none of my friends have heard of. This has to change. You need to know about these guys. Initial question: This past week we had friends in from out of town and found ourself in the familiar situation: where to take these people in PDX to show them around all the wonders Portland has to offer. I’d love to hear your ideas about this question. Where do you take people in portland when [...]

Often times, when you’re in the middle of some experience or situation, you don’t know how to speak truthfully about what’s going on. You’re just in the middle of the situation, and won’t have any wisdom or insight to the what’s, why’s, and how’s until you come through the other side. Experiences Are Atmospheres I [...]
